Today, His Excellency Sardar Ahmad Shakeeb, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Afghanistan in Islamabad, met with Dr. Ahmad Saad Al-Ahmad, President of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), at the university’s headquarters.
At the outset, the Afghan Ambassador expressed appreciation for the University’s continued cooperation and support extended to Afghan students, describing IIUI as a symbol of Islamic brotherhood and scholarly solidarity among Muslim nations. He also provided information regarding the establishment of the International Islamic University Kabul and called for the expansion of academic, technical, and research collaboration between the two universities.
His Excellency Ambassador Shakeeb further elaborated on the recent challenges faced by Afghan students in Pakistan, noting that the expiration of (PoR) & (ACC) cards, difficulties in extending student visas, financial hardships, and limitations in scholarship opportunities have caused serious concern and interruptions in their academic progress.
Dr. Ahmad Saad Al-Ahmad welcomed the Ambassador’s views and proposals, assuring that the issues raised would be presented to the university’s leadership and that efforts would be made, within the scope of the university’s authority, to support Afghan students. He also endorsed the proposal for enhanced cooperation between the International Islamic University Islamabad and the International Islamic University Kabul.
