Closure of Torkham Gate Detrimental to Both Countries, Says Acting Afghan Envoy in Islamabad

Mawlavi Sardar Ahmad Shekib, the Acting Afghan envoy in Islamabad, has stated that the closure of the Torkham gate is detrimental to both Afghanistan and Pakistan. He urged the Pakistani government to reopen it as soon as possible.

According to a statement released by the Afghan Embassy in Islamabad, Shekib raised this issue during a meeting with Asif Durrani, Pakistan’s special Envoy to Afghanistan. Shekib detailed the challenges faced by passengers, patients, and traders stranded at the Torkham gate due to its closure.

Asif Durrani acknowledged the difficulties caused by the closure of the Torkham border.

He assured that he has requested his respective authorities to promptly reopen the gate, recognizing that people on both sides are suffering due to its closure.
