President of the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industries Mr. Ayub Mariani, and the Vice President Mr. Akhtar Kakar called on the Acting Ambassador of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to Pakistan H.E. Sardar Ahmad Shakeeb. During the meeting, bilateral trade, transit, obstacles hindering the movement of traders and goods, the occasional closure of trade routes, and related issueswere discussed. Moreover, they underscored the importance of reopening the Badini route, which was closed during the previous administration, resulting in significant challenges for the communities on both sides of the Line. They proposed that, akin to the measures implemented in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, five to six additional crossing points should be established along the border in the Balochistan region to enhance the facilitation of travel and trade for the people on both sides. In response, the esteemed Ambassador affirmed that the Government of Afghanistan has no reservations regarding the reopening of these routes. He highlighted that the policy of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan prioritizes the promotion and facilitation of cross-line movement, trade, and transit for mutual benefit. However, he emphasized that the commitment, preparedness, and cooperation of the Government of Pakistan are equally crucial in advancing this initiative.
