A number of representatives of Afghan refugees residing in Islamabad and Rawalpindi met with the Acting Ambassador of Afghanistan H.E. Sardar Ahmad Shakeeb.
At the outset, the refugee representatives each expressed their concerns regarding the recent actions of Islamabad’s security institutions, particularly the search of refugee homes, harassment, arrests, extortion, and the imprisonment of refugees holding migration cards. They called for timely intervention to address these challenges.
The Acting Ambassador of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan provided detailed information on the follow-ups and measures taken regarding issues related to Afghan refugees and nationals residing across Pakistan. He assured the attendees that refugee-related matters remain a top priority for the embassy and that the Office of the Refugee Affairs Attaché is actively working to restore all human rights of the refugees.
Mr. Shakeeb also reassured the refugee representatives that their concerns would be conveyed to Pakistani authorities and that efforts would be made to resolve the recent challenges as soon as possible.
